Front Porticoes
Entry porticoes and front porches built to the proportions of the house, so the front door finally has the presence it should.
A portico is small but high-stakes: it sits dead center on the front of the house, so the proportions either look right or they nag at you forever. Column spacing, roof pitch, and how it meets the existing facade all have to be drawn before anything is built.
We handle the structure, the roof tie-in, and the finish columns and trim so the entry looks deliberate, not added.
What this usually involves
- Proportion and design work before construction
- Footings, posts, and structural framing
- Roof framing and clean tie-in to the house
- Columns, ceiling, and finish trim
- Roofing and flashing to keep the entry dry
It is the first thing visitors see, so it is worth getting the proportions exactly right.
